Today’s Islam update

1 09 2010

An interesting article by Paul Hseih today at the NoodleFood blog.

Paul believes Christianity is the long term threat to freedom in the USA, not Islam.

See “The greater danger:  Islamic or Christian dictatorship?”

Paul also warns that the means don’t justify the ends.

Back in 1980, many Americans (correctly) recognized the USSR as a threat, but also thought that we could use the Islamist mujahideen fighters in Afghanistan as allies against the communists. Of course today the USSR is no more, but the Islamists are now a real danger to us in a way that few (myself included) anticipated 30 years ago.

Paul’s using this analogy to point out the folly of supporting anti-Islamic movements if the real goal of the movement is to advance Christian ideology.

This article was interesting to me because Paul has also written the article: “The coming merger of religion and environmentalism”
This is something I believe has been happening for some time around the world.  I believe this is also a major threat to the future prosperity of the western world.

In the meantime, I couldn’t but help but notice today the hateful comments made by a conservative newspaper in Tehran, the hardline daily Kayhan.  The newspaper wrote that Mrs Carla Bruni-Sarkozy deseves death for speaking out about the death sentence of Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani for adultery.

“In fact, she herself deserves death,” the paper added, labelling the French first lady an “Italian prostitute”.

The above quote comes from an article in The Age.  and here’s another article reporting the same story.
